The Las Vegas Raiders have, for the most part, prospered from the development of their draft picks over the last couple of years.
There are few who have not quite proven they are league ready yet. Running back Brittain Brown, Las Vegas' final pick of the 2022 NFL Draft, is one of them.
Brown played just six games in his rookie season, having taken only special teams snaps. He then missed the entire 2023 season after being placed on IR back in August due to an undisclosed injury.
The former seventh-round pick out of UCLA could still be of value to the Raiders, seeing as fellow running backs Josh Jacobs, Ameer Abdullah, and Brandon Bolden are all free agents this offseason.
If Brown doesn't prove his worth in training camp this summer, though, he could very well be out the door by the start of the 2024 season. He currently has two years remaining on his $3.7-million rookie deal.
Brown's collegiate career began at Duke, where he played three active seasons, totaling 1,126 rushing yards, 10 rushing touchdowns, 218 receiving yards and one receiving touchdown in 25 games.
He then transferred to UCLA, where he totaled 1,158 rushing yards, 11 rushing touchdowns, 213 receiving yards, and one receiving touchdown in 18 games (two seasons). Brown would be named an All-Pac-12 Honorable Mention by league coaches for his 2021 campaign.
Should the Raiders return most of their running back room this offseason and perhaps add another in this year's draft, Brown's short run as a Raider could see its end. A lot is to be determined before that happens, though.
From February 27 to March 4, 2024, the NFL Scouting Combine will be held at Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis, Ind.
The NFL Draft will be held in Detroit, Mich., on April 25-27, 2024. The Las Vegas Raiders currently hold the No. 13 overall pick.
