Rams head coach Sean McVay: Matthew Stafford is 'even better than advertised'

Sean McVay is excited about his new quarterback, and that's been made very clear since the Los Angeles Rams acquired him earlier this offseason.

After the Rams finished their offseason program, McVay detailed Matthew Stafford's on- and off-field qualities to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated.

"Bro, this dude's a bad MF-er," McVay said. "Whatever people say about him, as good as it can be, he's even better than advertised. It makes sense to him. The guy's ability to see the game, his ability to draw on his experiences, the feel that he has, it's pretty special and unique. And man, his feel for people, his authentic way of connecting with his teammates, his coaches, this guy, it's great being around him."

Stafford's arrival has given the Rams some lofty expectations entering the 2021 season, but McVay believes the former Detroit Lions signal-caller will be the one to bring them to the promised land.

McVay also recently admitted that he's been in a better mood since Stafford's arrival, though he insisted his shift in attitude has nothing to do with the departure of Jared Goff.

However, McVay's relationship with Goff began to deteriorate following a loss to the New England Patriots in Super Bowl LIII, so it's hard to believe that his mood wasn't at all impacted by trading the often inconsistent quarterback for one who has much more promise.
