Rams' Super Bowl odds remain the same after Odell Beckham Jr. signing

After much speculation, potentially some misdirection and drama that generated buzz throughout Twitter, three-time Pro Bowl wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. officially landed with the Los Angeles Rams on Thursday.

The Rams head into Monday's prime-time game at the San Francisco 49ers sitting at 7-2 and already possessed a high-powered offense before acquiring Beckham, so logic suggests oddsmakers would've viewed the signing as an additional boost for the current championship contender. As Michael David Smith noted for Pro Football Talk, though, the Rams' odds to win Super Bowl LVI at their home venue of SoFi Stadium in February mostly remained the same shortly after they introduced OBJ as one of their own:

This makes sense for several reasons. The Rams have Cooper Kupp, Robert Woods and Van Jefferson atop the depth chart at Beckham's position, and Tyler Higbee has solid chemistry with quarterback Matthew Stafford. It's also anybody's guess what Beckham will be, moving forward, as the 29-year-old suffered a season-ending torn ACL in October 2020 and then notched only 17 receptions for 232 yards and no touchdowns this fall until he and the Browns parted ways earlier this week.

Beckham may prove to be a game-changer for the Rams, particularly in January when it matters most. For now, though, sportsbooks have more questions than answers about what he'll offer an offense that, truth be told, doesn't badly need his services.
