Aaron Donald has yet to say for certain whether he plans play next season, but he has told the Los Angeles Rams what it will take to get him back.
There were reports before the Super Bowl that Donald may retire if the Rams won it all. He didn’t exactly shut down the talk after L.A. defeated the Cincinnati Bengals in Super Bowl LVI. Sean McVay also made it seem like he was contemplating his own future, but he put a lot of that talk to rest when he chanted “run it back!” at Donald during Wednesday’s parade.
Again, Donald passed on the opportunity to say he would be back with the Rams next season. He did, however, talk about the Rams having a “superteam.”
TMZ caught up with Donald after the parade, and the star defensive tackle once again spoke about the importance of the Rams retaining their core. He said he will be back in 2022 if L.A. re-signs Odell Beckham Jr. and Von Miller.
“I’m enjoying the moment,” Donald said. “If we bring everybody back, I’m back. Odell Beckham, Von Miller — we bring them guys back, let’s make it happen.”
It seems highly unlikely that Donald will retire. He’s only 30 and still very much in his prime. He obviously wants to make sure the Rams are committed to contending again.
