Rams GM Les Snead: 'I'm not buying' Aaron Donald retirement talk

While there's chatter that Los Angeles Rams defensive tackle Aaron Donald may retire from the NFL now that he's a Super Bowl champion, Rams general manager Les Snead wasted no time telling reporters that he doesn't believe it'll happen.

"He'll sleep on it and see, but I'm not buying it," Snead said Sunday night after the team's victory, via NFL.com. "He's a young kid. He'll get bored and need something to do."

Donald, 30, sacked Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow twice in the Rams' 23-20 win, and sealed the victory with a fourth down pressure in the final minute of the game. But talks of a surprise Donald retirement started a couple hours before kickoff when NBC analyst Rodney Harrison said he had a conversation with the defensive tackle.

“He’s big on legacy,” Harrison said during a pregame show. “He doesn’t want to be known as a defender that accomplished so many individual things and never won a Super Bowl. But he also told me this: If he wins a Super Bowl, there’s a strong possibility he could walk away from the game and retire."

Donald is a three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year and has been an All-Pro in every season of his career except his first when he won Defensive Rookie of the Year honors. His 98 career regular season sacks rank 40th in NFL history.
