Rams working on 'win-win' deal with All-Pro Aaron Donald

During last month's public Super Bowl celebrations, Los Angeles Rams All-Pro defensive tackle Aaron Donald seemed to squash rumors regarding a potential retirement when he vowed to "run it back" as long as individuals such as pass-rusher Von Miller and wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. also returned for another campaign.

That won't be happening this offseason. Miller signed with the Buffalo Bills at the start of the new league year, and Beckham is recovering from the torn ACL he suffered on Super Bowl Sunday and likely won't be an option for any team until some point this fall at the earliest.

Rams general manager Les Snead told media members Tuesday he "definitely" wants to eventually re-sign Beckham and added he's working on a new agreement with the three-time NFL Defensive Player of the Year.

"We definitely have chatted with Aaron, his representation," Snead explained, according to Brady Henderson of ESPN. "And we're trying to come up with a win-win solution to reward Aaron but still definitely be able to continue trying to compete as a team at the highest level. So we're in progress there."

Snead added that "Aaron has articulated to us that he would like to be back" but also said any questions about if Miller's departure will impact negotiations with the 30-year-old can truly only be answered by Donald.

As Cameron DaSilva of Rams Wire wrote, Los Angeles lowered Matthew Stafford's salary-cap hit for 2022 via his newly-signed extension and will likely look to do the same with Donald, who is on a deal that carries a cap hit of $26.75 million for the upcoming season.
