Rams GM Les Snead 'definitely' wants WR Odell Beckham Jr. back

Star wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. joined the Los Angeles Rams in November shortly after he and the Cleveland Browns parted ways following the trade deadline and found new life with the NFC club, as he tallied 27 catches for 305 yards and five touchdowns across eight regular-season games and then added 21 receptions for 288 yards and two scores in four playoff contests.

However, the three-time Pro Bowl selection suffered a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee during the Super Bowl win over the Cincinnati Bengals last month. Beckham tore that same ACL in October 2020, and there remain questions about how much he'll play, if at all, during the next season. Nevertheless, Rams general manager Les Snead said back on March 2 he would "definitely like" to re-sign Beckham depending on the 29-year-old's recovery timeline.

It was reported after the Rams added one-time Pro Bowl receiver Allen Robinson on a three-year deal last week that they still had enough money left over for Beckham, and that was before Los Angeles traded Robert Woods to the Tennessee Titans. While speaking with local media members via a Tuesday video conference, Snead repeated he'd like OBJ to run it back with the franchise.

"He’s someone that we definitely want back," Snead said of Beckham, according to Myles Simmons of Pro Football Talk. "A little bit more complex situation based on the injury. We envision it being similar but different circumstances to last year. When Odell is ready to play, we’d appreciate him being part of [the Rams]."

In a piece published on Feb. 19, Ben Volin of The Boston Globe wrote that "former 17-year Chargers physician David Chao said a second tear can often be easier to return from, and predicted that Beckham should be back on the field for the second half of the season."

As long as Beckham is patient and encounters no worrisome setbacks, a reunion could be in the works at some point this fall.
