Rams WR Cooper Kupp captures Super Bowl LVI MVP honors

The man who won the NFL's wide receiver triple crown during the 2021 regular season came up huge when his team needed him most in Super Bowl LVI.

Kupp started his day with an 11-yard touchdown reception early in the second quarter to give the Rams a 13-3 lead. With fellow wideout Odell Beckham Jr. going down with a knee injury in the second quarter that sidelined him for the remainder of the contest, Kupp stepped up in the second half, particularly on the game-winning drive late in the fourth quarter.

Los Angeles quarterback Matthew Stafford connected with the NFL's Offensive Player of the Year time and time again late in the contest, including on the game-winning one-yard touchdown strike with 1:25 left in regulation. Kupp finished the game with eight receptions for 92 yards and two scores.

The 28-year-old is the first wide receiver to win Super Bowl MVP honors since Julian Edelman accomplished the feat in 2018. Kupp is just the ninth wideout to earn the award.
