Ravens agree to trade veteran safety to Jets

In an unsurprising move, the Baltimore Ravens have agreed to send veteran safety Chuck Clark to the New York Jets for a 2024 seventh-round pick.

The Ravens have already invested heavily in the position. Baltimore signed safety Marcus Williams to a five-year, $70 million contract last offseason and used pick No. 14 in the 2022 NFL Draft to select safety Kyle Hamilton of Notre Dame.

The Jets will get a solid player in Clark, who is  just 27 and coming off  a career-high 101 tackles in 2022. The Ravens, meanwhile, look to the future with their safety from Notre Dame.

Hamilton is less proven and struggled in the beginning to his NFL career but was able to turn things around and give Baltimore enough confidence to make this trade.

The 21-year-old finished with 62 tackles, two sacks, one forced fumble and five passes defensed as a rookie.

It may not be the compensation Ravens fans were hoping for, but it's better than just a straight release — and the move helps them save some money against their cap space.

The trade makes sense for both teams as they begin to build their rosters for 2023.
