Ravens designate DE Derek Wolfe to return from IR

The Baltimore Ravens enter their Week 8 bye coming off of a 41-17 beatdown at the hands of the Cincinnati Bengals. They'll have 13 full days to prepare for their next opponent in the Minnesota Vikings and on Tuesday, they began the process of getting a bit healthier.

Wolfe is in his second year with the Ravens, after being drafted 36th overall by the Denver Broncos in 2012. The lineman spent the first eight seasons of his career with the Broncos, collecting 299 tackles, 33 sacks and one interception across 108 regular season games - all of them starts - before signing a one-year, $3 million deal with Baltimore last March.

In 14 games (eight starts) last season, Wolfe tied his career-high for most tackles with 51, but registered a career-low one sack. The 31-year-old was an important part of the Broncos' elite defensive unit that helped quarterback Peyton Manning end his Hall of Fame NFL career with victory in Super Bowl 50.

In the Super Bowl win over the Carolina Panthers, Wolfe had five tackles, two QB hits and 0.5 sacks. In the 2015 regular season, he tied with Super Bowl MVP Von Miller and linebacker Brandon Marshall for the team-high in tackles for loss with nine and was tied for third on the squad with 5.5 sacks.

Wolfe has not played yet in 2021 and had been on injured reserve since early October after suffering a hip injury during practice.
