Former Baltimore Ravens cornerback Marcus Peters is a free agent no more as he officially signed with the Las Vegas Raiders on Monday.  According to NFL Network's Ian Rappoport, Peters' deal is for one year with an undisclosed salary.

Peters came to Baltimore in 2019 through a mid-season trade with the Los Angeles Rams. In three seasons with the Ravens (he missed the entire 2021 campaign with a torn ACL), Peters recorded 99 tackles, 25 passes defended and eight interceptions. He earned his second and most recent All-Pro selection in 2019 after providing a big mid-season boost to the secondary.

The 6-0 corner has had an impressive career through his first eight years. Since entering the league in 2015, he leads the league in total takeaways (42), interceptions (32) and interceptions for touchdowns (6). He began his career as a first-round pick by the Kansas City Chiefs before moving on to the Rams, Ravens and now the Raiders.

Just this week Bleacher Report wrote of the possibility of Peters going to Las Vegas, "As a career ballhawk who excels in man coverage, Peters can provide much-needed help in the secondary. Sure, Peters had a down 2022 campaign, allowing a 113.7 passer rating and seven touchdowns in coverage, but he had to bounce back from a torn ACL while learning a new scheme under Baltimore Ravens defensive coordinator Mike MacDonald.

"In defensive coordinator Patrick Graham's man-heavy coverage scheme, Peters could rebound from a forgetful year and start for a defense that needs his veteran savvy on the boundary. If Peters can still find the football in coverage, he's an ideal free-agent target for the Raiders, who have logged just 12 interceptions over the last two years."

Talks of the Ravens re-signing Peters had persisted throughout the offseason, but nothing ever materialized. Now that that ship has sailed, Peters joins a Raiders secondary that has struggled in recent seasons but is trying to build itself back up.
