Ravens hosting potential replacement for Lamar Jackson
The Ravens are starting to prepare for the worst-case scenario of losing QB Lamar Jackson, who requested a trade March 2, so they'll host a visit with one of the 2023 NFL Draft's top QB prospects.
After Florida's Pro Day on Thursday, Baltimore will meet with Florida QB Anthony Richardson, considered a top-10 selection.
Richardson, who is only 20, would fit into the Ravens' offense nicely as he is a threat in both the pass and run game. He received an athleticism score of 99 at the NFL Combine, the best among all quarterbacks.
The Florida product, who had 3,203 yards, 26 touchdowns and nine interceptions in 2022, ranks as Pro Football Focus' No. 6 overall prospect on its big board.
"Richardson is the single most impressive athlete at the quarterback position in scouting combine history," PFF wrote.
Baltimore has pick No. 22 in the draft but would certainly gain enough ammunition to get Richardson if the team trades Jackson, the 2019 NFL MVP.
Richardson isn't a proven commodity, as Jackson is. So, if the Ravens can find a way to work things out with him, it would ease a lot of minds in Baltimore.
