The Baltimore Ravens have absorbed another brutal injury blow, with head coach John Harbaugh saying after Week 15’s win against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday that running back Keaton Mitchell suffered a likely season-ending knee injury, per Jamison Hensley of ESPN.
“Ravens RB Keaton Mitchell (knee) suffered a serious injury, per John Harbaugh. Mitchell likely won’t be back this season, Harbaugh said.”
Mitchell suffered the injury while trying to gain yards on the ground in the fourth quarter. While the exact degree of the injury’s seriousness has yet to be determined, his chances of playing another game this season already look dim just based on the visuals of the moment he hurt his knee. Not to mention what Harbaugh just said after the Ravens’ 23-7 win over Trevor Lawrence and the Jaguars.
Before he left the game, Mitchell had 73 receiving yards on nine rushing attempts and 15 receiving yards on two receptions and two targets.
Ravens lose another rushing weapon
The injury to Mitchell further hurts the Ravens’ offense, particularly on the ground. Baltimore no longer has JK Dobbins active after he suffered a season-ending injury earlier this season, and with Mitchell seemingly done for the year as well, the Ravens will have to rely more on the pair of Gus Edwards and Justice Hill in the backfield. Lamar Jackson will also have an increased load in the rushing attack.
The Ravens entered Week 15’s date with the Jaguars ranked No. 1 in the entire league in rushing play rate (50%) and also in rushing yards per game (157.1).
