Ravens QB Lamar Jackson relieved over monumental win over Chiefs
A victory in Week 2 doesn't usually define a team's whole NFL season. Still, for Lamar Jackson and the Baltimore Ravens, Sunday's dramatic 36-35 victory over the Kansas City Chiefs was a very big deal.
"It feels good to get that monkey off of our back," Jackson said, via ESPN, after defeating the Chiefs for the first time in his career.
Baltimore's comeback victory was done in epic fashion, with Jackson himself running the ball into the end zone twice as the Ravens overcame an 11-point deficit in the fourth quarter of Sunday's game. He ended the night completing 18-of-26 passes for 239 yards with two touchdowns while also leading the ground game with 16 carries for 107 yards with two additional touchdowns -- including a very memorable somersault into the end zone with 3:15 left in the fourth.
Jackson also became the first quarterback in the Super Bowl era to tally 100-plus rushing yards and two rushing touchdowns in multiple games.
That's pretty impressive, especially for a QB who threw two interceptions, including a pick six, to start off the game.
"I know my team is going to look at me," Jackson said of overcoming his early mishaps. "If I'm out there just messing up, they're going to be like, 'God damn, what are you doing?' So, I've got to do it for my guys."
