Ravens should trade for Super Bowl-winning RB

The Ravens lost running back J.K. Dobbins for the season after tearing his Achilles in Week 1, but his potential replacement may have just been put on the trade block.

The Rams have reportedly had trade talks centered around RB Cam Akers, a second-round pick in 2022 after he was a healthy scratch in Week 2. If Baltimore hasn't already, it should give Los Angeles a call.

The start to Akers' NFL career has been a bumpy one but the 24-year-old seemed to find his footing last season. In 2022, he rushed for a career-high 786 yards and seven touchdowns.

However, with the emergence of RB Kyren Williams, trade talks about Akers have reemerged.

There isn't any worry about Akers' attitude either. Head coach Sean McVay said there is nothing wrong with him and that both sides are looking for a conclusion on the running back's confusing stint with the Rams.

"I think there is going to be an opportunity to see what that looks like moving forward, but it’s not going to be a back-and-forth thing," McVay said.

Of course, it will come down to how much compensation Los Angeles is looking for, but the Ravens would upgrade the position. Running backs Gus Edwards and Justice Hill filled in nicely for Dobbins in Week 2, but Akers would bring more upside to the position.

Akers is also in the final year of his rookie deal, so the Rams can't be asking for too much. Either way, Baltimore has quite the decision ahead of whether to keep it in-house or look elsewhere.

But head coach John Harbaugh did say he likes the players the Ravens already have ahead of their Week 2 matchup.

"We're good, like the guys we have. Melvin Gordon is here for a reason. He's a proven back and I'm very very glad he's here," Harbaugh said.
