Ravens veteran LB one of NFL's most underrated signings

The Ravens had themselves a very active offseason and one of their signings that went under the radar is starting to pay dividends.

Linebacker Jadeveon Clowney, who joined Baltimore on a one-year deal in August, leads the team in pressures (13) and win rate percentage (15.5) and is tied for second in sacks (1.5) through the first three weeks.

The former No. 1 overall pick in 2014 has been highly criticized throughout his career for not meeting the expectations that come with being the first pick in the draft. However, he has looked good in his limited action and may get his workload increased.

Linebacker Odafe Oweh was already ruled out of the Ravens' Week 3 matchup against the Colts and LB David Ojabo (ankle) was also injured in the game. Clowney is ready for the challenge.

"When I first came here to visit, I got the feeling that I was joining a team that could really go places," Clowney said. "I'm sticking to my original goal – to play all 17 games. If I do that, I think my play will take care of itself."

It's quite the goal for the 30-year-old as he has yet to play 17 games in a season, but he seems to be rejuvenated playing a key role for a team with Super Bowl aspirations in his 10th season.

"This is my fifth team and I've told the guys here – don't take this opportunity for granted," Clowney added. "We've got the pieces to do something special. I really believe that. We just have to keep working every day for the long haul and see if we can extend this thing into February, you know what I mean?"

There is still a lot of season left, but if Clowney continues playing the way he has, Baltimore will certainly reap the benefits of this late-summer signing.
