Record-breaking quarterback prospect would love to play for this AFC West team

Did Oregon quarterback Bo Nix just give Denver Broncos head coach Sean Payton his elevator pitch?

On a recent episode of former NFL QB and current ESPN analyst Robert Griffin III's podcast, Nix revealed he would love to play for Denver.

"That would be a blast playing for a coach like that," Nix said on "RG3 and The Ones." "He's known a lot for what he and [former Saints QB] Drew Brees did together. It was quick game, get the ball out, timing stuff that I love to do. That's what we did so great here at Oregon."

Like Brees – who has the second-highest completion percentage (67.7 %) in NFL history – Nix is accurate. In his final season with the Ducks, he broke the NCCA's completion percentage record (77.45% in 14 games). This quality may appeal to Payton, who served as Saints HC from 2006-21.

Mike Klis of KUSA-TV in Denver earlier this week reported that Nix met with the Broncos on Tuesday, meaning the organization may be interested in the 24-year-old signal-caller.

The Broncos could potentially take Nix with the No. 12 overall pick in the draft or wait to see if he falls. In his latest mock draft, The Athletic's Bruce Feldman sees Denver acquiring the No. 27 overall pick from the Arizona Cardinals to select the 2023 Heisman finalist.

"He's probably the best decision maker of the three (Pac 12 QBs)," a coach said of Nix, per Feldman. "He can diagnose things very quickly. He doesn't have the arm talent that [Washington's Michael Penix Jr.] and [Southern Cal's Caleb Williams] have, but I don't know that he's too far off."

Denver desperately needs a quarterback. Presumed starter Jarrett Stidham went 1-1 in two starts last season, completing 60.6 percent of his passes for 496 yards, two touchdowns, one pick and a below-average 31.1 QBR. Backup Ben DiNucci has made one start in his career.

Don't be surprised if the Broncos target Nix in the draft, especially after he appeared to compliment Payton.
