Redskins got a pregame pep talk from...Matthew McConaughey?

by Mark Fishman

Alright, alright, alright...

Academy award winning actor Matthew McConaughey is apparently capable of providing inspiration to others off camera as well.

McConaughey, an avid Washington Redskins fan, gave his team a pregame speech this past weekend before they went on to defeat the Philadelphia Eagles in thrilling fashion Sunday afternoon.

In fact, the speech from McConaughey went over so well that Redskins head coach Jay Gruden said he would welcome another pep talk from the actor prior to the team's game this upcoming Sunday against the Atlanta Falcons.

There's no word yet if McConaughey will be willing to fire up Redskins again this season, but knowing the actors vivacious personality, the answer is likely to be yes.

McConaughey is no stranger to the football world though. He played a head football coach in the 2006 film We Are Marshall and is often seen on the sidelines of Texas Longhorns football games, cheering on his alma mater.
