Redskins have not received any interest in Robert Griffin III

It's readily apparent that the Washington Redskins will still have Robert Griffin III on their 53-man roster when the 2015 NFL season comes to a conclusion.

Benched in favor of Kirk Cousins during the preseason, RGIII has yet to attempt a single pass thus far this year. Common logic seems to suggest that the team would be looking to move its former top pick for something of substance. Unfortunately for the Redskins, not a single team around the NFL has any interest in acquiring the quarterback's contract.

According to ESPN's Josina Anderson, the Redskins have not received one call about the embattled quarterback leading up to Tuesday's trade deadline:

This shouldn't come as much of a surprise. When the Redskins picked up the 2016 option on Griffin III's contract during the spring, it caught a lot of people by surprise. Outside of his uneven performances on the field and injury history, there seemed to be a real rift between the quarterback and head coach Jay Gruden.

Guaranteeing him $16.2 million for injury only made it nearly impossible to move the struggling signal caller. And in reality, the decision to continue running Cousins out there could have a lot to do with the injury and financial risk that comes with playing RGIII. That's something other teams simply don't want to take on.

In 20 starts since an amazing rookie campaign, the former Heisman winner has thrown 20 touchdowns while turning the ball over just as many times. He's averaging 223 passing yards per game and has lost 15 of those 20 starts.

All this leads to the Redskins likely releasing RGIII following the season, at which point he can find a fresh start somewhere else. Meanwhile, Daniel Snyder and Co. are stuck with Kirk Cousins for the remainder of the year.
