Report: Bears to interview Eagles executive Ian Cunningham for 'elevated personnel position'

The Chicago Bears have had a busy week, first hiring Kansas City Chiefs executive Ryan Poles to be their next GM on Tuesday and then bringing in Indianapolis Colts defensive coordinator Matt Eberflus as the new head coach on Thursday. The organization isn't showing any signs of slowing down, as they're reportedly looking at a figure within the Philadelphia Eagles front office for another important role.

Senior NFL reporter Albert Breer further reported that Cunningham will be traveling to Chicago on Friday and is expected to be interviewing for the assistant GM position. Cunningham just concluded his 14th season in the NFL, fifth with the Eagles and first as their Director of Player Personnel.

Prior to his promotion in 2021, Cunningham served as Philadelphia's director of college scouting during the 2017 and 2018 seasons, and then the team's assistant director of player personnel in 2019 and 2020.

The Bears are coming off of a 6-11 campaign where they missed the postseason for the second time in three years. Chicago fired both head coach Matt Nagy and GM Ryan Pace earlier in January before replacing them with Eberflus and Poles, respectively.
