Report: Buccaneers CB Richard Sherman 'likely out a couple weeks' with hamstring injury

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers won their third straight game on Thursday night against the Philadelphia Eagles, but it may have come at a cost.

The Bucs' beleaguered secondary took another hit early on in Thursday's tilt as three-time All-Pro cornerback Richard Sherman was forced from the contest with a hamstring injury midway through the first quarter. Sherman was quickly ruled out for the remainder of the contest, and NFL Network's Ian Rapoport had an update on Friday morning.

Now 33 years old, Sherman isn't the player he once was, but the longtime Seattle Seahawks corner still boasts loads of playoff experience and has been to three Super Bowls, winning one of them. Sherman earned four of his five Pro Bowl nods from 2013 through 2016, and his most recent Pro Bowl recognition came in 2019 when he was with the San Francisco 49ers.

Sherman signed with the Bucs on Sept. 29 and according to NFL.com, was playing his third game in 11 days on Thursday.

"With that sort of action, given his short ramp-up period, a soft-tissue injury shouldn't come as that big of a surprise -- there is a reason the NFLPA has fought for longer ramp-up time during training camps."

Other members of the Tampa Bay secondary who are currently injured or are recovering include Antoine Winfield Jr., Carlton Davis and Sean Murphy-Bunting.
