The Las Vegas Raiders appear on their way toward dealing with the last major bit of uncertainty on their roster ahead of the 2022 season.

The Raiders have officially begun contract extension talks with quarterback Derek Carr, according to Vic Tafur of The Athletic. Tafur added that the extension is viewed as a “formality.”

Carr is entering the final season of his contract, which had led to some teams sniffing around to see if he could be available in a trade. Those inquiries clearly went nowhere, and the contract talks should end any lingering speculation once and for all.

Carr threw 23 touchdown passes and 14 interceptions last season. The hope is that those numbers will improve, especially since he’ll have a huge new weapon as part of the offense.
