Few will be more excited about the Las Vegas Raiders’ acquisition of Davante Adams than quarterback Derek Carr. In fact, we already know, because Carr dropped a hint about it before.
Carr and Adams were teammates for two years at Fresno State and will now be reunited after the Raiders pulled off a blockbuster trade for the wide receiver on Thursday. That fulfills Carr’s long-term goal, as the quarterback made no secret that he wanted to play with Adams again. In an appearance on “The Cris Collinsworth Podcast” last July, Carr said Adams was one of his best friends, and that he would do a “full-court press” on the receiver once he became a free agent in a bid to get Adams to Las Vegas.
This was Derek Carr last year talking about Davante Adams: “I said I’m gonna full-court press the guy when he’s a free agent. There’s no doubt. I’ll buy him a car. Whatever I gotta do. He’d fit in so well with our guys.”
They’re now together.

Adams never actually hit the open market, as the Packers used the franchise tag on him. However, the two sides failed to agree to a long-term deal, leading to Thursday’s trade and Carr getting his wish.
Carr’s future with the Raiders is not completely set in stone, but it’s hard to envision the team making this move if a quarterback change was coming.
