Report: Doug Pederson's future with Eagles in jeopardy

Doug Pederson's future with the Philadelphia Eagles might not be secure after all.

Pederson said last month that he "fully expects" to be head coach of the Eagles in 2021. But, according to ESPN's Chris Mortensen and Tim McManus, Pederson's status as head coach of the Eagles is "not firm." Team owner Jeffrey Lurie reportedly isn't confident about Pederson's vision for the team, and he'll meet with the 52-year-old again this week after their initial meeting did not go well.

One of the major issues in Philadelphia is quarterback Carson Wentz's demise, but ESPN says Lurie's concerns extend beyond the North Dakota St. product.

Pederson won the Super Bowl in 2017 and led the Eagles into the postseason in 2018 and 2019. 2020 was different, with Philly going 4-11-1. The season was capped off by Pederson pulling rookie quarterback Jalen Hurts for Nate Sudfeld in the season finale, which left questions about whether the head coach has lost his players' confidence, per ESPN.

If the Eagles move on from Pederson, they'll have plenty of qualified head-coaching candidates to sift through.
