Report: Jets 'have no interest' in signing Jadeveon Clowney

Jadeveon Clowney heading to the New York Jets is unlikely.

When the Jets traded Jamal Adams to the Seattle Seahawks, they received safety Bradley McDougald in return. McDougald, who played with Clowney in Seattle, advocated for New York to sign the three-time Pro Bowler.

McDougald recently spoke with Clowney, and he claims the 27-year-old wants to sign a deal with New York. Clowney even told the Jets to "come get him."

However, it appears any hopes McDougald had of reuniting with Clowney at the Meadowlands have been crushed. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets "have no interest" in signing the 27-year-old:

Clowney has drawn interest from other teams around the league, including the Tennessee Titans and Cleveland Browns, though many have an issue with the core muscle injury he suffered last season and the inability for him to be checked out by team doctors due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Earlier in the offseason, Clowney was searching for a deal worth $20 million per season. However, his price tag has been lowered to somewhere in the $13 million to 15 million range.

According to NFL analyst Charles Robinson, Clowney is in no rush to sign a deal. It's not a surprise that he's taking a more laid-back approach, especially considering the fact that he didn't report to training camp last season until late August.

Clowney, the former No. 1 overall pick, had a down year last season. He recorded three sacks, 21 solo tackles, four forced fumbles, two fumble recoveries and 13 quarterback hits. All of those stats, except for forced fumbles , are down from his 2018 campaign.
