Report: 'Multiple teams' interested in Raiders QB Derek Carr

As things stand heading into the first weekend of March, Las Vegas Raiders quarterback Derek Carr is about to enter the final season of his contract and isn't yet all that close to putting pen to paper on an extension with his current employer. Add in that new Raiders general manager Dave Ziegler and head coach Josh McDaniels have no meaningful ties to Carr, and it makes sense other clubs would ask about the 30-year-old's availability ahead of the upcoming NFL Draft.

Vincent Bonsignore of the Las Vegas Review-Journal reports that "multiple teams have expressed interest" in the Raiders QB1:

It's assumed the Washington Commanders reached out to the Raiders, as Washington general manager Martin Mayhew admitted earlier this week he had "spoken to every club that has a quarterback who might be available." However, it's unclear who else may have called Las Vegas and when.

The Miami Dolphins are seemingly "all-in" on Tua Tagovailoa. Head coach Pete Carroll said this week the Seattle Seahawks "have no intention" of trading Russell Wilson. Baker Mayfield is on track to remain with the Cleveland Browns through at least this fall, and "most" people believe Aaron Rodgers and the Green Bay Packers will stay married through the 2022 campaign.

Outside of Washington, the Carolina Panthers come to mind as potential would-be buyers assuming they could produce a package of assets worthy of landing Carr. McDaniels has repeatedly backed Carr as the team's leader and starter, though, and may not want to start from scratch with a rookie if no top-tier signal-caller is available on the trade market.
