Three-time Pro Bowl edge rusher Jadeveon Clowney seemingly overvalued himself heading into free agency last month. It came after an injury-plagued initial season with the Seattle Seahawks that saw Clowney record all of three sacks.

This led to speculation that the former No. 1 overall pick would return to the Pacific Northwest on a short-term deal.

That’s no longer the case. According to NFL Media’s Mike Garafolo, the chances of Clowney re-signing in Seattle are “slim to none.”

This isn’t terribly good news for a Seahawks squad in need of as much pass-rush help as they can get. Seattle brought back former first-round pick Bruce Irvin in free agency after he spent the past several seasons away from the team.

All of this seems to suggest that Seattle will target a pass rusher in the first round of this month’s NFL Draft.

As it relates to Clowney, the market for his services seems to be heating up with a surprise team throwing its hat into the ring. Something should get done before the above-mentioned draft.
