Report: Zach Ertz not expected to participate in Eagles offseason work
Zach Ertz is still a member of the Philadelphia Eagles. However, he is not with the team as Phase Two of offseason workouts begins.
According to Jeff McLane of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Ertz is not at the team's facility on Monday and is not expected to report for any of the team's other offseason work.
Ertz was seen as a prime trade candidate entering the offseason. In March, several teams reportedly enquired about the veteran tight end and the Eagles reportedly made it known they were looking for a third- or fourth-round pick.
At the time, Ertz was said to be "increasingly impatient" about a move and it appears he still wants a change of scenery. However, the Eagles are in no rush to move him as general manager Howie Roseman said after the draft that Ertz is "a good player, a good person and he's under contract."
The 30-year-old carries a base salary of $8.25 million in 2021 while carrying a cap hit of $12.5 million and a dead cap value of $7.8 million.
Ertz had 36 catches for 335 yards and one touchdown in 11 games last season, becoming Philadelphia's second option behind Dallas Goedert.
