Richard Sherman to miss time due to pulled hamstring

The Tampa Bay Buccaneers will be without Richard Sherman for a couple of weeks because of a hamstring injury, multiple sources confirmed Monday morning.

The veteran cornerback sustained the injury during last Thursday night's game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Tampa Bay's defense was just seven plays into their first series when Sherman pulled the hamstring while trying to tackle wide receiver Quez Watkins.

It's an unfortunate turn of events for Sherman, who signed a one-year deal with the Bucs a couple of weeks into the season. Sherman did not immediately take the field with the reigning Super Bowl champs as he got back into playing shape after a long stint away from the gridiron. Clearly, after three games in three weeks, the 33-year-old's body is still getting used to playing football again.

His absence is also unfortunate for Tampa Bay, which brought Sherman on to fill out a defensive backfield that continues to be banged-up. Sean Murphy-Bunting and Carlton Davis are on IR and Antoine Winfield Jr. has not yet cleared concussion protocol.

The Buccaneers host the Bears in Week 7.
