Rob Gronkowski 'undecided' if he'll return to Buccaneers or play in 2022?

Maybe future Hall-of-Fame tight end Rob Gronkowski wasn't joking when he recently remarked he'll give quarterback Tom Brady "a little scare" before deciding on if he'll return to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers or play at all in the 2022 NFL season.

Per Rick Stroud of the Tampa Bay Times, agent Drew Rosenhaus said Thursday that Gronkowski hasn't yet made any call regarding his intentions for later this year.

"I talked to Tampa yesterday and I told them that he’s still undecided, he needs some time to figure out whether he wants to play," Rosenhaus explained, while adding the Buccaneers have opened the door for the 32-year-old to run it back with the organization:

Many within the football community automatically assumed Gronkowski would follow in the footsteps of his unretired "best friend" and pursue one last Super Bowl ring. It's worth noting, though, that the four-time champion who has already retired once when Brady was still an active player admitted to TMZ Sports in January he needed to heal coming off a campaign during which he played in only 12 regular-season games and missed time due to multiple rib fractures and a punctured lung.

Gronkowski ultimately returned and went on to record nine catches for 116 yards and a touchdown across a pair of playoff contests. Perhaps he feels that was as good an ending to his career as he can expect considering his lengthy injury history.
