Robert Griffin III demands respect for Russell Wilson after upset win

With an upset victory over the Buffalo Bills on Monday night, the Denver Broncos have defeated the two top seeds from the AFC last season in back-to-back games — they handed the Kansas City Chiefs a 24-9 loss in Week 8.

Denver is now riding a three-game winning streak on the coattails of improved defensive play and sound quarterbacking from Russell Wilson. Against Buffalo, Wilson completed a season-high 82.8% of his passes and posted his fourth multi-touchdown, zero-interception performance over his last six games.

Wilson's strong play in recent weeks has sent his doubters into hiding. Nevertheless, Robert Griffin III was sure to air out those who had previously slandered Wilson's name after Denver's 24-22 win.

"WHAT?!?! I thought some people said Russell Wilson was done? Washed? PUT SOME RESPECT ON HIS MOTHER SUCKING NAME," Griffin wrote on X, formerly known as Twitter. "His 18 to 4 TD to int ratio is one of the best in the entire NFL. And S/O to Sean Payton too. He stopped talking about other coaches and started coaching his tail off."

After being an utter afterthought for much of the first half of the season, the Broncos suddenly find themselves in the hunt for a playoff spot with eight games remaining. Their 4-5 record puts them just a half-game behind the Las Vegas Raiders for second place in the AFC West and one game out of the final wild card spot in the conference.

Denver still has an uphill battle ahead of it, with four of its next five games against opponents with a record above .500. However, if Wilson can keep turning in vintage performances as he did against Buffalo, the Broncos will have a legitimate opportunity to snap their seven-year playoff drought.
