Former signal-caller Robert Griffin III had a tumultuous NFL career. He had a steady rise, followed by a drastic fall. In a recent episode of his podcast, the former No. 2 pick of the NFL Draft, shared one of his biggest regrets of his career.
The fall of Griffin happened due to multiple injuries and wrong decisions. He suffered a major Achilles Tendon injury in the 2012 post-season, playing for the Washington Redskins. The former QB took a big risk and continued to play, which had a high cost. He seemed candid as he spoke extensively about these things.
Robert Griffin III started his NFL career with a bang. In his first season, the quarterback registered 3,200 yards with 20 touchdowns in exchange for five interceptions. In addition, he had a more than 65% passing completion rate. Following his brilliant performance on the gridiron in his rookie season, he won the ‘Offensive Rookie of the Year Award’. However, here’s when it started going downhill for Griffin.
Y' all hitting the question. My biggest regret in my career is probably playing in 2013--I tore my ACL in the playoffs after the 2012 season against the Seattle Seahawks. After coming back and playing that season for pretty much seven to eight months, I was removed from tearing not only my ACL but also my LCL and my meniscus in my knee. It is something that I should not do. I don't even say that. I know I should'nt have played that year. Griffin replied to a fan question via the ‘RG3 and The Ones’
The former signal caller was effective enough in the second season as well. The former QB covered 3,203 yards in the second season as well. However, his passing touchdown was reduced to 16 and the number of passing interceptions increased to 12. In that year, Griffin had triggered his last season’s Achilles Tendon injury, which had a long-lasting impact on his career.

Robert Griffin III said that he played this high gamble, considering his young age. He was only 23 then, and hence thought of going in full swing. However, that had a hefty cost in his life. The present-day analyst did not shy away from admitting that.
But when you are a player, fight or flight mode, you're always choose to fight. Despite going back and looking at the film and understanding that I was nowhere near 100%, sometimes when we want something so bad that we are willing to hurt ourselves for it. When you are 23 years old, and you have no professional experience, it is very hard to make those decisions. Griffin said
The former QB was unable to recover from the brutal injury. While he played for more than seven years after that in different franchises (Baltimore Ravens and Cleveland Browns), he never was able to establish himself as the starter in those franchises. Griffin played as a backup and did not get back the form that he wanted to get.
After hanging his boots up, Griffin became prominent through his communication skills. He was seen analyzing the games last season. Also having his own podcast, he has hosted multiple eminent personalities in his show. The former QB is now making his foray into the world of NFL analysts.
