Robert Griffin III tells Washington Football Team to 'make the call' after Ryan Fitzpatrick injury
It appears Robert Griffin III is interested in a reunion with the Washington Football Team.
Following news that Ryan Fitzpatrick was placed on injured reserve, Griffin tweeted a video of a 76-yard touchdown run from his rookie season with a very specific message.
The former NFL quarterback also posted the message to his Facebook page.
Washington selected Griffin second overall in the 2012 draft. He won the Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and played for the franchise through the 2015 campaign. In three seasons with Washington, the 31-year-old went 14-21, completing 63.9% of his passes for 8,097 yards and 40 touchdowns. He also ran for 1,480 yards and eight scores.
After Washington released him following the 2015 season, Griffin joined the Cleveland Browns for a year before signing with the Baltimore Ravens for the 2019 and 2020 seasons.
The Baylor product signed a multi-year deal with ESPN as an NFL and college football analyst in August. At the time, he said he was still interested in playing in the NFL, adding if that opportunity doesn't come, he'll give "everything" he has to ESPN.
Washington is expected to be without Fitzpatrick for six to eight weeks after he suffered a hip subluxation in the season opener. Taylor Heinicke is set to start Thursday's game against the New York Giants.
