When the Seattle Seahawks traded Russell Wilson to the Denver Broncos in March 2022, there was a sense that his departure involved some tension between him and the rest of the team, including coach Pete Carroll.

However, arguably the two most important figures in franchise history reunited earlier this offseason after it was announced that Carroll would be ending his time as Seattle's head coach when the team decided to move in a different direction after a 14-year run at the helm.

Pictures on social media showed Wilson and former Seahawks teammates spending time with Carroll following the news, erasing some doubt about any falling out between the QB-coach duo.

Wilson essentially confirmed this with recent comments he made to Brandon Marshall on the I Am Athlete podcast.

"We've always had a good relationship. He was like a father figure to me," Wilson said. "So I never understood why people were trying to tear it down. To me, going back to see Pete was because of the love that was there. I got no hate in my heart. Just love.

"Just wanted to celebrate him, because I thought that he gave me so much. In the midst of everybody talking all this noise about me and Pete, we've always and forever been connected."

Wilson and Carroll led the Seahawks to back-to-back Super Bowl appearances and were one goal-line touchdown away from having a pair of Super Bowl rings.

Though his career with the Broncos is likely over, Wilson says he wants to win two more Super Bowls over the next five seasons. As for Carroll, he'll still maintain a role with the Seahawks, but general manager John Schneider hasn't specified what that will entail.
