Russell Wilson reportedly 'wants to know his options' for potential trade

Russell Wilson has kept his cards close to his chest when it comes to his future in Seattle, but it seems as though he is at least open to looking elsewhere.

NFL Network's Ian Rapoport said on "The Pat McAfee Show" on Friday that Wilson "wants to know his options" and will "look around and see" what potential landing spots are available to him. He also stressed that the Seahawks are unsure of what to do with their Super Bowl-winning quarterback, who is under contract through the 2023 season.

“Russ wants to know his options. I’m not saying he’s definitely going to go, but he wants to look around and see,” Rapoport said.

“If you’re Seattle, it’s the same problem they’ve had the last few years," he added, "which is even if they get a great offer, even if they get let's say three first-round picks for Russell Wilson, who is going to actually be their quarterback and how quickly could they rebuild? Because Pete Carroll is [going to be] 71, and he's not going to want it to be a full-year rebuild. I wouldn’t rule out a trade, but it has to be a no-brainer and they have to know the answer to the next question as well.”

Wilson, 33, has been rumored to be potentially on the move this offseason after the Seahawks finished 7-10 this season and came in last in the NFC West. He missed three games due to a finger injury and went 6-8 in games that he started.

Wilson's contract includes a full no-trade clause, so he would have the final say in any trade sending him out of Seattle. Rapoport reported earlier this year that Wilson wants to put himself in a position to win another championship, but he did note that Wilson said in his end-of-year press conference that he would like to spend his entire career with the Seahawks.

That career began when Seattle selected Wilson in the third round of the 2012 Draft out of Wisconsin, as he won the starting job coming out of the preseason and never looked back. He led the Seahawks to a win in Super Bowl XLVIII and another Super Bowl appearance the following season.
