Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette released from hospital

Seattle Seahawks wide receiver Ricardo Lockette has been released from a Dallas area hospital after undergoing neck surgery for an injury he sustained against the Cowboys last Sunday.

Lockette suffered a concussion, and tore ligaments in his neck covering a punt return near the end of the second quarter of the Seahawks 13-12 win over Dallas. Lockette collided violently with Cowboys defensive back Jeff Heath, and layed motionless on the field for several minutes while trainers and medical staff attended to him.

An undrafted player out of Fort Valley State, Lockette earned his spot on the Seahawks in 2013 by becoming an ace on special teams for head coach Pete Carroll. The Seahawks coaching staff even began working Lockette in the first team offense last season, as he was the receiver quarterback Russell Wilson was targeting on the infamous play that doomed the Seahawks in Super Bowl XLIX.

Lockette is expected to miss the remainder of the season as he recovers from his injuries.
