Sean McVay committed to Rams' title defense, not pursuing any TV opportunities

Rest easy, Rams fans. Sean McVay isn't going anywhere.

Los Angeles' faithful leader told ESPN's Adam Schefter on Friday that he "is not pursuing any television opportunities" and instead is committed to leading the Rams next season.

There had been speculation since even before the Super Bowl that if McVay led the Rams to a title, he would consider walking away from coaching at least temporarily to become a color commentator. He was asked point blank following Los Angeles' victory over Cincinnati if he'd consider walking away and said no, but also has said he has no interest in being a football lifer.

New York Post sports media columnist Andrew Marchand reported that McVay would draw interest from practically every network should he choose to step away from coaching, including Amazon, who is assembling a crew for its upcoming "Thursday Night Football" broadcast. Fox also now may have a vacancy next to Joe Buck in its booth after Troy Aikman was said to be nearing a deal with ESPN, per Marchand.

McVay will instead save that speculation for another day, as he will return to the sideline at least for next season as the Rams look to defend their Super Bowl crown. They hope to do so with much of the same core, as quarterback Matthew Stafford remains under contract and Aaron Donald told TMZ "we bring everybody back, I'm back."

Los Angeles hired McVay back in 2017, making him the youngest coach in the NFL's modern era. He's led the team to the playoffs in four out of five seasons, including three NFC West titles and now one Super Bowl title.
