SiriusXM, 33rd Team put relationships with Brett Favre on hold amid alleged welfare scandal

It was learned ahead of the weekend that ESPN Milwaukee and its owner, Good Karma Brands, had "paused" weekly radio appearances made by Pro Football Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre amid stories about Favre's alleged involvement in a welfare scandal regarding the construction of a new volleyball center at the University of Southern Mississippi, his alma mater and where his daughter played the sport.

A.J. Perez of Front Office Sports reported Monday that SiriusXM has now put Favre's weekly show "on hold." The former Green Bay Packers, New York Jets and Minnesota Vikings quarterback hasn’t appeared on that outlet since Sept. 13.

Additionally, Perez wrote that The 33rd Team website has paused its deal with Favre due to his supposed connection with the welfare scandal. Favre's last piece of content for that football-related source was shared on Sept. 13, and his personal page redirects to The 33rd Team's "roster" that includes massive names such as Bill Parcells, Michael Vick, Rod Woodson, Trey Wingo, and many others.

Retired quarterback Sage Rosenfels spent time as Favre's teammate during the 2009 NFL season and took to Twitter last week to hit out at the "Gunslinger" for "stealing millions of dollars from the poorest people in my state" after it was reported that text messages allegedly show Favre collaborated with former Mississippi governor Phil Bryant and others to divert at least $5M of state welfare money to help build the previously mentioned volleyball center.

Favre hasn't yet been charged with a crime in this matter, and his attorney, Bud Holmes, has denied that his client ever knowingly received welfare funds.
