Skip Bayless again calls Tom Brady out about Raiders' Shedeur Sanders decision

As Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders surprisingly fell to the fifth round of the 2025 NFL Draft, media personality Skip Bayless attracted attention when he posted on X that it was "pretty clear" that Las Vegas Raiders minority owner Tom Brady "told the Raiders not to take Shedeur." 

During a recent podcast appearance, Brady insisted he "wasn’t a part of any evaluation process" regarding Sanders. When asked about Bayless' take, the seven-time Super Bowl champion said, "The problem with media is everyone can just say whatever the [expletive] they want." 

On Friday morning, Bayless returned to X to respond to Brady.

"I guess he’s called me a liar," Bayless said about Brady, Awful Announcing's Brandon Contes shared. "So I’m about to call BS on Tom Brady because, Tom, you know and I know, everything I said about you and Shedeur Sanders is obviously exactly right."

In Bayless's defense, Brady's comment about the "evaluation process" doesn't make sense for multiple reasons. For starters, he served somewhat as a mentor for Sanders leading up to the draft. Additionally, a recent report detailed how Brady met with first-year Raiders general manager John Spytek and new head coach Pete Carroll during the offseason to discuss "veteran possibilities" and college quarterback prospects.

"When we are looking at quarterbacks, we’d have to be fools not to involve [Brady]," Spytek told Dan Pompei of The Athletic. "Tom is the foremost expert on quarterback play I’ve ever been around."

According to Pompei, "Brady endorsed" the Raiders acquiring Geno Smith from the Seattle Seahawks in March. Brady also "was on board with the selection of quarterback Cam Miller in the sixth round" of the draft. 

Las Vegas passed on Sanders seven times before the Cleveland Browns drafted the polarizing prospect at pick No. 144. 

"It wasn’t like Brady actually called me out because he didn’t call me out by name," Bayless added during his comments. "He just said that was wrong. And by translation, of course, I’m wrong. But Tom did it with a big, broad brush. He condemned the media. Took the cowardly way out. Just take me on. I don’t care. I can take it, because I’m right…I’ve had a lot of integrity. I’d like to say that I work really hard at telling the truth and backing it up."

Since March, much has been said about how Sanders allegedly turned teams off during the predraft process. Considering Brady's involvement with the Raiders pertains to certain personnel decisions, it's only fair to wonder what he said or didn't say about Sanders behind closed doors before the draft arrived.
