A Bowling Green quarterback has entered the transfer portal after the spring portal window opened on Wednesday.
According to On3's Pete Nakos, Bowling Green quarterback JT Kitna entered the portal after enrolling in the school in January. He went through spring practice wth the program before coming to this decision.
Bowling Green has a new coach for the 2025 season after Scot Loeffler left for the Philadelphia Eagles after they won Super Bowl LIX. Eddie George took over for Loeffler after the school ran a national search for its next head coach.
JT Kitna is the son of former NFL quarterback Jon Kitna, who played in the NFL from 1997-2011. He played for the Seattle Seahawks, Cincinnati Bengals, Detroit Lions, and Dallas Cowboys before retiring from the league.
He appeared in 141 games, compiling 29,745 yards through the air, 169 touchdowns, and 165 interceptions. He threw for over 4,000 yards in a season twice, and both came during his tenure with the Lions.
His best season came in 2006 when he finished with 4,208 yards through the air, 21 touchdowns, and 22 interceptions. He also has another son, Jalen, who plays quarterback at UAB.
JT was part of the 2025 recruiting class and was a three-star recruit, per 247Sports composite rankings. He was the No. 84 quarterback recruit in the country and the No. 1,423 overall recruit in the nation.
The spring transfer portal window opened on Wednesday and will remain open until April 25.
Bowling Green finished the 2024 season with a 7-6 record and has been to three consecutive bowl games. Loeffler had been the head coach for the last six seasons before leaving for the Eagles.
