The Pittsburgh Steelers have been the subject of much speculation regarding their plans for the 20th overall pick in the 2024 NFL Draft. Just hours before the draft was set to commence, a new report emerged that could potentially alter the Steelers' draft strategy.

NFL analyst Todd McShay took to social media to share insights into the pre-draft buzz he's been hearing. According to McShay, the Steelers are actively engaged in a flurry of calls, fervently attempting to maneuver their way up the draft board.

On Tuesday, reports surfaced indicating that the Steelers were actively pursuing a trade with the Denver Broncos, aiming to secure the 12th overall pick in the upcoming NFL Draft. Their target? Toledo cornerback Quinyon Mitchell. While this news certainly stirred excitement among fans, it also evoked memories of previous draft day maneuvers, notably the move to acquire Devin Bush.

Reflecting on the move to trade up to get Bush, it's undeniable that the outcome didn't quite meet the lofty expectations set by the Steelers faithful. However, it's worth noting that just last year, the Steelers made a similar move, trading up in the draft to select Broderick Jones. While Jones may not have immediately dazzled fans with spectacular plays, his solid performance as a rookie instilled confidence in his potential for future success in the Steel City.

As the draft approaches, the Steelers find themselves with a laundry list of needs to address. Foremost among these is the urgent requirement to bolster their offensive line, a position group that has been under scrutiny in recent seasons. Moreover, the need for a starting-caliber center who can seamlessly transition into the lineup from day one is glaring.

Alongside addressing offensive line concerns, the Steelers also find themselves in need of a dynamic wide receiver capable of making an impact right out of the gate. Furthermore, shoring up the cornerback position and potentially fortifying the defensive line are additional areas of focus for the Steelers as they look to solidify their roster for the upcoming season.

Steelers' 2024 Draft Mounting With Pressure

As the Steelers gear up for the 2024 draft, the pressure is palpable, and Omar Khan has fans buzzing with anticipation for what lies ahead. Reflecting on Khan's successful 2023 draft, it's important to recognize that in the ever-evolving landscape of the NFL, player trajectories can shift swiftly, and the true impact of a draft class may only reveal itself with time.

Now, with the challenge of replicating past success looming large, Khan faces a critical task in navigating the Steelers' draft strategy for 2024. With glaring needs to address, the Steelers can't afford any missteps as they aim to solidify their roster and position themselves as contenders for the upcoming season.

Indeed, a successful draft has the potential to transform the Steelers' outlook for 2024, potentially catapulting them into contention. While initial reports hinted at a potential move for a cornerback, speculation abounds regarding other possible targets, including offensive tackles. With a multitude of possibilities on the table, the anticipation among Steeler Nation is palpable as they eagerly await the draft's unveiling. Steelers fans will soon have answers.
