Steelers begin training camp in best possible condition
The Steelers reported to training camp on Wednesday, and after head coach Mike Tomlin got his first look at his players following some time off, he revealed some great news.
"We don't see anyone at this juncture that will be limited as we embark on this thing tomorrow, which is a good thing," Tomlin said.
Pittsburgh doesn't have anyone on the physically unable to perform list to start camp. It's an as healthy start a team can have.
Of course, it is just the beginning of what will be a long 2023 season that will inevitably have injuries, but the Steelers are certainly hoping this is a sign of what's to come.
Pittsburgh had a few significant injuries a year ago. Wide receiver Anthony Miller, who is no longer with the team, tore his ACL during camp, running back Najee Harris injured his foot/toe, which lingered for much of 2022 and linebacker T.J. Watt suffered a pectoral injury in Week 1 that caused him to miss several games.
After a very active offseason, the Steelers are hoping to make it back to the postseason for the first time since the 2021 season and maybe even act as a dark horse contender. However, that won't happen if they face injuries early and often.
For now, fans in Pittsburgh should be excited for what's to come, but with a month of training camp ahead, it's fingers crossed the rest of the way.
