Steelers HC Mike Tomlin praises Eagles' QB Jalen Hurts ahead of Week 8 matchup

Jalen Hurts entered the 2022 season looking to prove he was the answer to the Philadelphia Eagles' question at quarterback.

Seven weeks into the season, Hurts and the Eagles remain the NFL's only unbeaten team, and Pittsburgh Steelers head coach Mike Tomlin has taken notice of the third-year quarterback's growth.

Speaking with the media this week ahead of Sunday's matchup against the Eagles, Tomlin praised the former second-round pick.

"Man, I've just got so much respect for him, the way he plays the position," Tomlin said. "His intangible quality. His leadership skills. His prudent decision making. His prudent use of mobility. [He's] why they have very little negativity in their offense."

In his second full season as the starter in Philadelphia, Hurts has been efficient, and the numbers show it.

In six starts, Hurts has completed 66.8 percent of his passes, throwing for 1,514 yards with six touchdowns and two interceptions. The 23-year-old has also been impactful with his legs, rushing 77 times for 293 yards and six touchdowns.

According to Josh Tolentino of the Philadelphia Inquirer, Hurts is one of only four quarterbacks since 2000 to lead their team to a 6-0 record while posting 12 or more touchdowns with two or fewer turnovers, joining Peyton Manning (2006), Brett Favre (2009) and Tom Brady (2015).
