Colin Cowherd: Steelers must deal with this reality

The Steelers don't like to admit to rebuilding. However, after a 2-5 start, Fox Sports broadcaster Colin Cowherd believes they should come to terms with it. He calls this season a "year of discovery" for Pittsburgh, which is starting rookie Kenny Pickett at QB.

"It's bumpy and you should lose," Cowherd said. "... You've just got to deal with it for a year."

It's not abnormal for rookies to have growing pains, as Pickett is having. Many QBs have struggled at the beginning of their careers. Pickett has two TD passes and seven interceptions.

"Peyton Manning in year one; lots of picks, lots of losses. Joe Burrow year one; lots of losses," Cowherd said. "Josh Allen year one had more picks than touchdown passes."

Manning, Burrow and Allen had a combined 49 touchdowns, 45 interceptions and a 10-27-1 record as rookies.

The Steelers might also have to terms with having their first losing season under head coach Mike Tomlin

"If you lose the next eight games, you'll know what you have, because they've got weapons. You can't tell me they don't have weapons," Cowherd said.
