Steelers interview ESPN analyst Louis Riddick for GM position

It was reported nearly one month ago that the Pittsburgh Steelers were intending to interview ESPN's Louis Riddick for the organization's vacant general manager post. The two sides reportedly met this week in Indianapolis, site of the 2022 NFL Scouting Combine.

Pittsburgh's outgoing GM Kevin Colbert has been with the club since 2000 and during his run, the Steelers have posted a 226-124-3 regular-season record and 15-12 mark in the playoffs. Under Colbert, the team has made the postseason 14 times and played in three Super Bowls, winning two of them.

Other reported candidates for the job mentioned over the past month have been Tennessee Titans vice president of personnel Ryan Cowden, Indianapolis Colts assistant GM Ed Dodds, Los Angeles Chargers director of player personnel JoJo Wooden and Colts college scouting director Morocco Brown, as well as a pair of in-house candidates in pro scouting coordinator Brandon Hunt and vice president of football operations Omar Khan.

A former ninth-round draft pick in 1991, Riddick played 94 career regular-season games, making eight starts, from 1992 to 1998 with three different teams.

Following his career on the field, the now-52-year-old served as a pro scout for Washington from 2001 to 2004, before being promoted to their director of pro personnel from 2005 to 2007. Riddick was a pro scout for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2008, their assistant director of pro personnel in 2009 and their director of pro personnel from 2010 to 2013.

Riddick became an announcer for ESPN's "Monday Night Football" in 2020.
