The Pittsburgh Steelers officially agreed to terms with defensive lineman Logan Lee on a rookie contract, according to the team.

The Steelers drafted Lee with the team’s sixth-round pick (No. 178) out of Iowa. The Steelers acquired that pick in the Diontae Johnson trade with Carolina.

Lee is the first Hawkeye to be drafted by the Steelers since the team drafted linebacker Mike Humpal in the sixth round of the 2008 NFL Draft. Lee revealed after the Steelers drafted him that he grew up as a fan of the team.

While the exact details of Lee’s contract are not available, Over The Cap estimated that the four-year deal in that slot would be worth around $x million with a signing bonus of $x.

A three-year starter at Iowa, Lee made 43 career appearances and 41 consecutive starts while totaling 158 career tackles, 18.5 tackles for loss, nine sacks, seven passes defended and two blocked field goals.

Lee had 48 tackles, five tackles for a loss and three sacks in 2021; 54 tackles, eight tackles for loss and three sacks in 2022; and 55 tackles, 5.5 tackles for loss and three sacks in 2023. He was a two-time All-Big Ten selection.

The Steelers brought Lee into Pittsburgh as one of their 30 pre-draft visitors after having scouted him at the 2024 NFL Combine.

According to Steelers defensive line coach Karl Dunbar, Lee will be an interior defensive lineman for the Steelers. Dunbar cited that he will play anywhere from 5-technique to 0-technique due to his “tweener” frame but sees him mostly as an interior guy.

Logan Lee is likely just a depth defensive lineman that will only see time on special teams as the team heads into the 2024 season. That is not to say that after a year or two of development, Lee could move into a role similar to what Isaiahh Loudermilk played in 2023.
