The Pittsburgh Steelers are currently in the process of trying to sign veteran quarterback Aaron Rodgers in free agency, but the team could also target their field general of the future as well.

In a recent article by Bleacher Report's Gary Davenport, he lists five teams who he thinks could make a trade for Indianapolis Colts young quarterback Anthony Richardson, and the Steelers are one of them.

"Frankly, all the drama surrounding the pursuit of Rodgers should be a red flag for the team—drama and the 41-year-old seem to go hand-hand these days. And even if he does sign in Pittsburgh, he's only a short-term fix," Davenport writes. "If the Steelers believe in Richardson's talent, they could obtain a former top-five pick who could still be under team control for three more seasons at a reasonable amount."

Pittsburgh's current starting quarterback is Mason Rudolph, who has proven in the past that he can get the job done. With that being said, it is safe to say that he is not the Steelers ideal option under center for the future.

Richardson has had a bit of a shaky start to his NFL career, getting injured in his rookie year, and getting benched in his second season. But he has shown flashes of tremendous arm talent with some of the most impressive throws we have seen in recent memory.

If the Steelers are willing to take a chance on that, they could make a trade and have their possible quarterback of the future.
