Texans' J.J. Watt tweets support for Alex Smith's clearance to return

With the news that Alex Smith has been cleared by his personal doctors to return to football activity, one player was glad to hear it.

Houston Texans defensive end J.J. Watt tweeted his support for the Washington quarterback in his quest to return to the football field.

It's no surprise that Watt probably felt relieved to hear the news about Smith's clearance. The five-time Pro Bowler was one of the Texans involved in the sack that broke Smith's leg in 2018. Watt converged with cornerback Kareem Jackson as they tackled the Washington QB.

The impact from the tackle fractured multiple bones in Smith's leg, and his recovery process has been horrific.

It'll be difficult for Smith to ever start a game for Washington in the near future. Dwayne Haskins is the organization's quarterback of the future, and it'll be difficult for Smith to ever earn his QB1 position back after such a gruesome injury.
