The Houston Texans are going to have to make a tough decision very soon. And that could very well be this year. Luckily, the Texans have around $70 million in cap space and will likely use it in both free agency, like on Saquon Barkley, or even use it eternally to hand out extensions. However, the question is when. They could even not use it for extensions. We just don't know.

The Texans are now in a different position than they are used to. They have a rookie quarterback on his rookie deal, who is a top-five quarterback in the league, which means they have a ton of cap space to work with as well. Yet, they are in a prime position to possibly contend for a Super Bowl after winning a playoff game last season.

But, one popular topic of discussion within the fan base and among media members has been the possible option of extending wide receiver Nico Collins, who had a breakout season last year. After completing three years, he is now eligible for the extension and is set to become a free agent next year. Recently, Collins opened up about that possibility.

"Oh man, I would love that," Collins told KPRC 2. "That would be great. I feel like that's what everybody works for. I will let it come to me, whatever they decide, whatever they want to do. I'm going to let it ride.  I'm going to continue to get better and work on my game. If they want to negotiate, we can."

Collins had a rough first two seasons when you think about the expectations he had. He couldn't pass 500 receiving yards in his rookie year despite playing one less game than he did this year and last season, he played only ten games, yet he was 40 yards away from having the same yards per game average. This year was obviously a breakout year, but how can the Texans be so sure he will do it again?

This is the very reason I think they will wait. They have only seen this once from him; he hasn't had a quarterback until this year. I'm very much on the side of Collins getting his money, but the Texans may want to see it happen again.
