The incredible stats that have Patrick Mahomes on cusp of surpassing Tom Brady

Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes might shatter Tom Brady's records.

In Sunday's divisional round victory against the Buffalo Bills, the 28-year-old surpassed Brady for most playoff wins by a QB (13) before age 30, per CBS Sports' Jeff Kerr.

According to Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated, Mahomes will be third in postseason wins behind Brady and Hall of Famer Joe Montana if the Chiefs win the Super Bowl.

Through his first seven seasons, Mahomes has more passing yards (28,424), passing TDs (219) and a better passer rating (103.5) than Brady.

While it's still early in his career, the two-time league MVP already looks like a future Hall of Famer and could surpass Brady as the greatest QB of all time. Even Brady admitted he thinks Mahomes is the only player who could match or eclipse his greatness.

"I mean, I think when I'm looking at guys in pro football, Patrick is the one that really stands out," Brady recently said on his "Let's Go!" podcast. "They've done a great job since he's really taken over."

Brady starred for the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and New England Patriots for 23 seasons, winning seven Super Bowls, an NFL record. Playing for that long and winning seven championships will be challenging for Mahomes.

Regardless, he's on a historic pace and in a great position to hoist the Lombardi trophy for the third time in his career. On Sunday, Kansas City faces the Ravens in the AFC Championship Game in Baltimore. As of Monday, ESPN lists the Chiefs as a 3.5-point underdog.

However, don't be surprised if they pull off an upset thanks to Mahomes' stellar play. This postseason, he's third in passing yards (477) and tied for fourth in passing TDs (three). The Chiefs, meanwhile, are trying to become the first team to repeat as Super Bowl champions since the Patriots in 2004.
